I would like to nominate Sharon Williamson because she dedicates a lot of her time to helping Hamilton's homeless. Sharon organizes and runs food giveaway nights by getting local restaurant sponsors to donate; rounded up a group of volunteers and went around the streets of the city offering freshly made warm food and drinks to the homeless and less fortunate community members; organized items for a huge garage sale this past year with all the proceeds going to the homeless; greets her homeless friends daily on her way to work; and, often hands out Timmie's gift cards to them so they can get a warm coffee and breakfast sandwich. 

With the cold weather, Sharon requested donations from co-workers and friends for warm clothing, coats, hats, gloves and footwear, which she passed out to people in need. Sharon shows compassion and love for all the citizens of the City of Hamilton who are in need of warmth, food and a friendly smile. Sometimes they even get hugs from her on their birthdays! She fondly refers to them as her street friends and the smiles get exchanged both ways when they see Sharon walking on the street.

I think Sharon deserves this Hero award as she is selfless, kind, generous and truly gives to her community without expecting anything in return. She also participates in many community runs including the Unity Run and Special Olympics run. - Kim Jarvis, Hamilton.
