Matt Parker

We would like to nominate Constable Matt Parker for the Police Services Hero of the Year Award – On Duty Difference Maker. Matt has been a police officer with the North Bay Police Services since 2006. Matt is a soft spoken, kind and generous man. He is a tireless advocate for the most vulnerable in our community and during his time with the NB Police Services has been instrumental in creating a variety of outreach programs geared to assist individuals with barriers faced during their interactions with the Police Services.

He has done this through implementing:

Community Closet - A program at the NB Police Services that provides clothing/necessities that can be provided to individuals that may not have these items during their interactions with the Police.

He has coordinated with a local non-profit organization to ensure on-duty officers have access to funds they could utilize to feed those in-need during their shifts via Tim Hortons gift cards.

Clothing Wars - Matt has facilitated many friendly competitions between Essential Services in his community to raise funds for the various charities the Service supports.

He encourages his children to participate with him in a number of community fundraising charity events and community activities such as deliveries for the Santa fund and Road hockey tournament in support of the Strong Kids Campaign.

He sits on the Board of Directors for a charity, Rebuilt Resources, in many capacities since 2008 and is now the Vice President. Not only does he attend meetings but since the Pandemic has started, he could be driving a truck on his days off when needed to move furniture for people starting from scratch or taking items to the food bank, and mentoring young men with a listening ear.

We are proud to have Constable Matt Parker in our community.
