Elisabeth Aschwanden

Elisabeth always wears a smile and is always busy helping people. I'm sure she took this job to give back to the community and make a difference, but she is literally a shining example of going above and beyond with every shift she takes on! IMO #PositiveCommunityEngagementWithOurYoung is so important! Imagine having a chance to give a child some direction and help steer them in the right direction! She helps seniors in our communities and even helps with some breakfast events!

Recently, Officer Elisabeth (as she is affectionately known to students in Bradford, Cookstown and Innisfil) was awarded the SSPS Community Safety and Crime Prevention Award. Here is the press release:
‘Officer Elisabeth’, as she is affectionately known, single-handedly organizes the Citizens Police Academy (CPA) ‘Seniors Edition’. It is one of the jewels in the South Simcoe Police Service’s crown. The program epitomizes everything we stand for: community engagement, crime prevention, partnerships and caring. Aschwanden has been organizing this very sought-after event for the past four years. A popular fixture as a school resource officer, this dedicated member puts together the line-up of guests for the CPA which includes several South Simcoe Police Service employees and community partners.

But that's not all! Did you know that she, along with her partner and a teacher, developed #BTRU (Be The Real You) at schools! Its so popular at the school that the kids come running to hug her! Here is another press release:
Officer Karen and Officer Elisabeth have started rolling out their updated #BTRU program to grade 5 students in #Bradford and #Innisfil schools. This made-in-South-Simcoe-Police initiative includes sections on online safety and bullying. Timing coincides with #SchoolSafetyWeek

SSPS is lucky to have Officer Elisabeth in my opinion. Her community engagement with our young is so important, and when she shared a story with me, I almost cried in joy! Elisabeth, you make a difference, such a positive difference, every day you interact with people. So professional yet caring at the same time, connecting with our young helping them make “the right decisions” now and in the future.

Thank you Elisabeth and #ThankYouForYourService - it truly is appreciated
