Karen Markus-Cashubec

Officer Karen has been an angel to my daughter, Kaitlyn, who has Williams Syndrome. Special Constable Karen has made such a difference in my daughter's life, being there for Kaitlyn unconditionally both while on duty and off duty. My daughter calls her just to talk or to share exciting news. Special Constable Karen has gone out of her way for over the past 8 years to be there for my daughter, including going to Kaitlyn’s grade 8 graduation, taking Kaitlyn to see her horse, inviting Kaitlyn into her home, coming to our home and more.

Brandon Eaket

The reason why I am nominating Constable Brandon Eaket from Peel Regional Police is because he has shown continuous passion within his community and has such an open heart to help and look out for others. Brandon is very easy to talk to. I met Brandon during the summer of 2018 at a motor vehicle collision, where a van and tractor trailer collided at Bovaird and Brisdale Drive. Brandon was the first to respond along with another officer. I stayed on scene to help assist with patient care.

Evan Harrison (8)

I want to nominate Evan Harrison because he is my hockey coach this year. He gives up his time to come hang out with us, he’s an amazing coach and he always make everyone laugh. He is someone I look up to because he helps me learn new things in hockey and he helps me push harder to achieve my goals. Another reason why I want to nominate him is because he makes a difference in our London community by keeping it safe.

Lila Shibley

I would like to nominate A/Sgt. Lila Shibley of the Ottawa Police Service. I have had the pleasure of working along side Lila for many years on many different initiatives. Lila is a true role model! In 2019, she led a team of OPS members and formed the Community Engagement Team, CET. Their main focus was to promote their current relationships with diverse communities and work to enhance those relationships and build new ones.

Andrew Arbic (1)

Constable Andrew Abic works closely with the community children/adolescents and their families. He offers support, encouragement and resources. He is kind and genuinely caring towards all no matter how difficult the situation. He has been a true role model for my 2 boys who are both on the spectrum for 3-4 years now. He has been there to calmly and effectively calm them and myself during many of their "meltdowns" or "outbursts" and does so in a way that cannot be taught in any school or text book.

Rebecca Elliott (3)

Officer Elliott is our School Safety Officer, and how lucky we are to have her. She treats all of the students with the utmost respect and always takes extra time to pop in to see our younger grades. Earlier this year, she took time to meet with a young boy who had been through trauma. She brought him in stickers, colouring books and a stuffed animal. He was thrilled to sit and talk with her. Just recently, she heard one of the students could not do gym because she had no indoor shoes. The next day she dropped off a pair of runners for the child. Thank you for all you do for our TVDSB schools. You are an amazing role model for the students.

Louis Carvalho

Sergeant Louis Carvalho went above and beyond after our community was hit by a tornado. It was a traumatic experience for our neighbourhood. Not only did he make sure we stayed safe and that there was no looting or "disaster tourists", but he kept checking in with us to make sure all was OK well after the disastrous event. He was more than an officer on duty; he was a stabilizing force for us all. We were evacuated and relocated for 9 months. We were able to sleep at night because he made sure he and his officers did everything they could to ensure our neighbourhood was protected and safe.

Jennifer Piasecka

Jen is a 911 dispatcher. In November 2018, a young male called 911; he had no idea where he was except to say he was in thick brush and stuck. A ping was done on the phone giving a general direction of this male's location. The officer made sure she was logged into her mobile phone and from her GPS and the male's GPS, Jen continued to update the officer. From the report it reads...

Kristine Herfst

I have watched Kristine over the years give tirelessly to her job and the community as a whole. Her endless energy and big heart are inspiring. At work, she is support to the front-line members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service, but in the background she has made positive differences in the community as a board member for Victim Services and a repeat member of successful committees like the Polar Plunge, Shop with a Cop, Food Drives, Toy Drives, First Responders Easter Eggstavaganza's, the Halloween Haunt and fund raising events for the Chatham-Kent Woman's Centre.

Rob Wilson

Rob was a K9 officer for many years until his K9 police service dog partner - Vegas - retired. I have known Rob for many years. At anytime while on duty or not, if I or anyone had a issue, Rob would stop and help you with your problem. I have nothing but great appreciation for the work Rob and other officers do - we need to recognize these officers more often.
