Officer Stapleford has been a compassionate and caring officer since she started with the Hamilton Police service. For the past 7 years, she takes her own time and initiative to construct and handout care packages of personal items such as toothbrushes, soaps, hats and gloves etc for the homeless. 

She also created a partnership with a local business allowing her to collect gently used shoes of all types and sizes which she hands out while engaging with the community as she works. For this initiative, which she named "soles for souls", it is not unusual to see her carrying a large bag of shoes to and from her cruiser or watching as she goes to some of the area shelters and drop-ins to find people in need of footwear and care packs. Her leadership and example of a compassionate community police officer is an inspiration to all around her. Krista-Lee is absolutely deserving of the nomination of a police hero.
