Alex McMillan

I nominate my husband Alex as I have witnessed, as have many other spouses, the toll some daily calls can take. Being a bit modest, he may not like my nomination but he has deserved it numerous times throughout his career.

He intervened in a suicide attempt in Oshawa, relating to the issues that led the person to this point. Even made the person aware that if they let go, he’s going in after them. This person was clearly at a loss by his words and ended up coming to him freely. He stayed beyond duty requirements and remains a positive influence for this person and others who he has helped to turn around to a more positive outlook. His actions never make the news (which he is happy about) but other less extraordinary calls do. We smile as we understand that what happens is not always the whole story. Thank you.
